605. Cash and Noncash Benefits for Persons With Limited Income

[For years ending September 30,except as noted (143,294 represents $143,294,000,000). Programs covered provide cash,goods, or services to persons who make no payment and render no servicein return. In case of many programs, including family cash welfare, foodand housing programs, job and training programs and some educational programs,some recipients must work or study. Most of the programs base eligibility onindividual, household, or family income, but some use group or areaincome tests; and a few offer help on the basis of presumed need]
