Continuity Irish Republican Army (CIRA): aim(s): to bring about a united Ireland area(s) of operation: maintains a limited operational presence; in December 2016, authorities found a large CIRA weapons cache in Monaghan County, which borders Northern Ireland; on 5 February 2016, gunmen opened fire in Dublin at a boxing weigh-in taking place in the Regency Hotel, killing one man and injuring two others; CIRA claimed responsibility accusing the deceased of being involved in the 2009 murder of fellow Republican and Real IRA senior member Alan RYAN
Real Irish Republican Army (RIRA): aim(s): to bring about a united Ireland area(s) of operation: maintains a limited operational presence, centered primarily on generating revenue from smuggling and other illegal activities
