Terrorist groups - foreign based:
al-Shabaab: aim(s): avenge Djibouti's support for NATO and other forces combatting al-Shabaab area(s) of operation: responsible for killing a Turkish national and injuring 11 international soldiers on 24 May 2014, when two suicide bombers detonated their explosives inside La Chaumiere, a restaurant in Djibouti's capital popular with tourists and Western military personnel; the suicide bombings were the first in the country's history; continues to conduct lethal attacks; leadership claims the attacks are in retaliation for Djibouti's support for NATO and the African Union Mission for Somalia, a regional peacekeeping force operated by the African Union with the approval of the UN
