Terrorist groups - foreign based:
Boko Haram: aim(s): replace the Benin Government with an Islamic state and, ultimately, establish an Islamic caliphate across Africa; violently opposes any polical or social activity associated with Western society, including voting, attending secular schools, and wearing shirts and trousers area(s) of operation: maintains an operational presence, especially in the west along the Benin-Nigeria border; Benin continues in 2017 to participate in the Joint Multinational Force's military offensives combating Boko Haram
