Global Prevalence of Adult Obesity - Country Rankings 2010
SOURCE: International Obesity Taskforce, International Association for the Study of Obesity
Percent of adult population with body mass index (bmi) of 30 or higher, ranked from highest to lowest % of the adult female population.
Last Updated February 2010.
Data from different countries are not allways from the same time period. Some country data is from as far back as 1988-89.
Where no figure is available for the female population, the male score was used to rank that country.
With the limited data available, prevalences are not age standardised. Prevalences are based on the best available data for the country, in some circumstances the data may be based on sub national surveys. Self reported surveys may underestimate true prevalence. Sources and references are available from IASO.
For Eritrea the combine male/femail figure was used, because no separate figures are available for males and females.
