Elizabeth Island, Doubtful Sound

Fiords are only found in locations where glaciation was able to extend below sea level, such as New Zealand, Alaska and Norway. This huge example, known as Doubtful Sound, was carved from solid rock by a glacier that was up to 2000 metres deep. Dome-shaped islands are part of the glaciers legacy
