Aucklands lifestyle is intimately tied to the ocean. Every day yachts stream out of the Waitemata harbour to the gulf beyond. Fast moving runabouts head for their favourite fishing spots. Ferries glide past the CBD, on their way to the islands of Rangitoto, Waiheke and Great Barrier. In half an hour, you can switch from urban sophisticate to sea gypsy.
