United Nations complex - The Austria Center, Vienna SOURCE: Wikipedia Commons photo. The United Nations Office at Vienna (UNOV), which is housed in the tall buildings in the photo, was established on 1 January 1980 as the third United Nations Headquarters after New York and Geneva (and before Nairobi). It performs representation and liaison functions with permanent missions to the United Nations (Vienna), the host Government and intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations in Vienna. The Austria Center Vienna is a convention center shown in the forground above. Vienna shared top spot with Paris in the rankings of the number of international conferences held in2008. The Austria Center Vienna hosted 27 of 139 conferences that took place in Vienna, placing it among the premier venues in the Vienna conference market.
