a Consumer loans that typically have fixed payments and a fixed term. Examples are automobile loans, student loans, and loans for furniture, appliances, and other durable consumer goods.
2 Families that had an outstanding balance on any of their credit cards after paying their most recent bills. Covers bank-type cards (such as Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and Optima), store and gasoline company cards, so-called travel and entertainment cards (such as American Express and Diners Club), and other credit cards.
3 Includes loans on insurance policies, loans against pension accounts, borrowing on margin accounts and unclassified loans.
4 Median amount of financial debt for families holding such debts.
